The central subsidy caps at 3 kW and state at 2 kW. All residential systems larger than 3 kW still receive a combined maximum of ₹1,08,000.
Who is Eligible
- Indian citizen with residential property in Agra / UP
- Active electricity connection from DVVNL in applicant's name
- Shadow-free rooftop space (~100 sq ft per kW)
- Not already availed of any other central solar subsidy
Documents Required
- 1. Recent DVVNL electricity bill (in applicant's name)
- 2. Aadhaar card of connection holder
- 3. Passport-size photograph
- 4. Property ownership document (or NOC)
- 5. Cancelled cheque or bank passbook (for DBT credit)
How it works: One application
Step 1 — Register on the National Portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in). Select Uttar Pradesh as state and DVVNL as DISCOM. UPNEDA verifies eligibility through the same portal — no separate state application is required.

No. The combined subsidies reduce a 3 kW system's cost by ~50–55%. The 'free' framing is misleading. What is true: payback happens in 2.5–3.5 years.
Do I need to apply separately for the UPNEDA state subsidy?+
No. UPNEDA verifies eligibility through the same National Portal data after your meter is commissioned. One application handles both.
Can shop owners claim these subsidies?+
No. Both PM Surya Ghar and UPNEDA residential subsidies are for residential connections only. Businesses benefit through tax depreciation.
